Weighing in at just under five ounces, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 is a compact, lightweight 12-megapixel digital camera with 5x optical zoom and a 2.7-inch Lcd Screen. It features both optical and digital image stabilization, runs on a rechargeable lithium ion battery that lasts up to 330 shots, and offers SD/SDHC or MultiMedia card storage. It is available in blue, black, or silver.
The Panasonic Lumix provides simple, easy-to-use direct controls. The Lumix includes an Intelligent Auto mode that is great for beginning photographers. In fact, it offers a wide range of automatic shooting options, including 26 scene modes with both standard and artistic options.
The Panasonic Lumix offers only VGA quality video capture, and the optical zoom cannot be used while recording video. It offers decent photo quality, but there is visible noise and distortion at all ISO levels, which range from 80 to 1600. The wide-angle lens also presents some barrel distortion. Startup time and shutter lag are unimpressive for the Lumix: they are average for this class of cameras.
